My cat has been missing for some time now. She got out one night and hasn't come back since. She is black with a white belly and white paws. She is relatively small, almost to the point of looking like a kitten or very young cat although she is about 6 or 7 years old. Not fixed, not declawed. Had on a multicolored blueish collar, there was a heart shaped tag on it with her name and our phone number on it, but we have not received any calls so possibly it fell off?? Could be pregnant now or have been pregnant recently? Like I said she wasn't fixed and she did manage to run outside every now and again. Thanks for posting. I went in to check the place out when I moved to Fayetteville and decided not to send my dogs there because I got a bad vibe from the woman. She was in the middle of grooming a dog that looked petrified and she was brushing it VERY roughly. I can't believe that she is still in business. What could we do to get her place shut down because she should NOT have a business in my opinion. I felt the same way when I visited, I didn't see any dogs so I wondered what kind of "dog daycare" this really was. If anyone is looking for a dog daycare and new groomer I personally highly recommend Canines Unleashed in Liverpool. The girls are WONDERFUL and the owner is highly knowledgeable. I also highly recommend both groomers, Jenn and Dawn who do the grooming on location.

Pro - $20 for the first dog. $15 for each additional dog. You need not be a member of the IWPA to compete
Novice - $7 per dog
There will be a limited number of harnesses for novice dogs to use.

Directions from the NYState Thruway (route 90)
Take thruway exit 34 (Oneida/ Canastota) turn Left onto Peterboro St. (Route 13) and go to first light. Turn Left onto Canal St. Follow Canal St. to end (about 5 miles). Turn Right onto Lake Road.
Watch for your first Right, Doran St. Turn Right onto Doran St and follow to end. At left bend, Doran St. turns into Old North Main St. We are the very last house on Old North Main St.
Directions From Route 5 (Oneida)
Turn North onto Route 46 (Main St) in Oneida. Go about 3 miles, cross over railroad, thruway, to flashing yellow light and turn Left onto Lake Road (316) and watch for your first Left, Doran St. Follow to end. Same as above.

Porta-a-potties will be available on site.
You will be expected to pick up after your dogs and yourself. Failure to do so may result in excusal from the pull.
Parking will be marked
Please don?t block cars in, or the dead end turn-around.
Hotel / Motels Accepting dogs within a 10 mile radius. Ask for group rates.
Not many accept dogs these days. Some will have a fee. Please pick up after your dog and be considerate so we can continue to have the privilege.

No drugs or alcohol allowed. Violaters will be asked to leave.

Willi needs a home (Syracuse)

Willi is a 1 yr. old yellow lab mix that was rescued last fall. He is fully vetted, neutered, current on shots and has had special surgery done at Cornell Vet Clinic. Will is what is considered a "special needs" dog because of his surgery. His coloring is charming with its various shades of brown and he is at his ideal 55 lbs. weight. He is good with children, housebroken and cats are OK. Willi was raised with a greyhound and a black lab mix. A true ying/yang situation. He can be a handful at times because of his energy level and further structured obedience training is encouraged. Long walks with him help and he enjoys riding in a car and has been well socialized. A fenced in back yard is mandatory!! We can't keep him anymore and have to find him a good home. Poor guy is going between two foster homes. Ideally, a home with an older child and/or somebody who is home during the day would be great. If you are interested, we have pictures of him. There will be an application and home visit as well as a contract. Two follow up visits to Cornell are also required to monitor his condition. Donation required.

I find it good the employees and visitors to these places to expose what is really happening to client dogs. If you took your dog there and were unaware of the abuse that went on until now you wouldn't be pretty concerned too.

Animal abuse and especially to other people's dogs is serious, if the dogs are young they are very imperssionable. We've had many dogs come into our shop who's first grooming at PetsMart and PetCo was a disaster and they've been terrified of grooming ever since.

No, We will not mind our own business when there are animal abuses out there stealing from unknowing pet owners and abusing their animals, with "Doggy day care" who lock the dogs in dirty kennels all day.

I find it heroic these people are stepping forward and speaking up against what is not right, if letting people get scammed and innocent dog's abused and traumatized is minding your own business. I'd like to not mind my own business as much as I can.

It's A Dog's World in Liverpool
The lady is crazy, like bipolar. All she does when customers are not around is yell and scream at the dogs and her workers. The dogs sit in dirty kennels and pace and whine and she yells at them to calm down and to sleep. I saw her hit a little toy poodle, no more than 4lbs, with a grooming brush and cause its nose to bleed for several minutes. The towels she uses to dry dogs she just hangs up and reuses again and again, she only gets them cleaned twice a month. It is not clean or sanitary and she is not a nice woman, she screams at your animals when you are not there and has anyone who is working their help her man handle them so she can 'groom' them. Maybe the cut comes out nice sometimes, but the way she gets it done is not right. Anyone with help can hold a dog on it's back and stretch it out by it's feet and pin it's neck to a table so it can't move and barely breath so they can shave a stomach or armpits, but that doesn't mean that is how it should be done. And god forbid your dog struggle because it doesn't want to be one it's back is all I have to say.

I had done a work interview there and while I had not seen any abuse for the hour I was there I did notice that the place was rather filthy and smelled of feces. They let a day care dog sleep on the clean towels that were used to dry the washed dogs and the kennels were disgusting and the bars of them had old paint chipping off. I saw one dog chewing on this paint and I took it from them and one of the girls told me not to bother because all the dogs do it, it's no big deal. Also the nail clippers and other equipment are either dull or broken and should have been replaced monthes ago. The day care dogs from what I saw past the one on the towels were all in kennels

I know this belongs in rants and raves but this section is read more often I believe.

I just wanted to advise everyone to NEVER I mean NEVER take your pet to A Village Groomer in Fayetteville, NY. I have seen the abuse that goes on behind closed doors to those animals!

Dogs being held up by the grooming loops out of anger, getting wacked in the head by the grooming brushes, toenails bleeding from constantly being cut too short, dogs that have literally over heated and died from being put in the drying kennels for too long, dog kennels so filthy the poor animals have to sit in their own pee and poop.

I don't know if you know any one that brings their dog there or if you personally do... but this is a fair warning... stay away from that place!

Worst thing is... the abuse is coming from the owner!

Also, for the poor people that bring their dogs to "doggy day care" there... the dogs spend more then half of the day in the kennels! You might as well keep them at your house!!! She is robbing you of your money.

I was at the Liverpool Humane Society today and they have over 200 cats and kittens that need homes. These cats are really loving and desperate for attention. The cats live in big rooms together, so they are all good with other cats. The Liverpool humane society is a no kill, non profit organization that could really use monetary and food donations. I'm sorry, but while you think giving your dog garlic repels fleas, the facts are this is nothing more than an old wives' tale. That's because in order for the garlic to repel fleas when it is fed to your dog, the garlic would have to put some kind of chemical in your dog's blood that would kill the flea. Because once a flea gets on your dog, it survives by feeding on your dog's blood and it stays on your dog until it dies. And there is simply no evidence whatsoever that suggests garlic, once it is broken down and enters your dog's blood stream, then becomes fatal to fleas. There is, however, some evidence that spraying garlic on your dog's coat is somewhat effective in repelling fleas from jumping on your dog, but if the dog is just ingesting the garlic, you are doing nothing to prevent fleas from getting on your pet. And remember, just because you can't see them doesn't mean your pet doesn't have fleas.

So the best flea prevention from your vet is the one of many topical applicants available from your vet, such as Frontline or Advantage. These have been proven most effective and safest when it comes to controlling fleas on your pet.

I have a 125 gallon tank, no cracks to be seen anywhere and the seals look great, so to my best knowledge it holds water for sale. It used to house my late uncle's red tailed boas, but I do not have room for a tank this size. I have cleaned it out, but another good washing would be recomended before putting anything in it. Tank comes with a screen lid that locks and folds open so it is easier to mange. Along with a large half log hide and custom log for snakes or other reptiles to climb or sit on. This is a pick up only item as it is too big for me to move on my own and will not fit in my car, you will need a large vehicle of some sort, it is 6 feet long and about 1.5feet wide and 2 feet tall and weighs around 200 pounds so bring help with you. Zee is looking for a new home. His current family is not a good fit and wants to find him a forever home that gives him the time and quality of life that he deserves. He is approx. 3 years old and weighs 40 pounds, is neutered and up-to-date on shots.

Zee is very smart and knows basic commands like sit, down and stay. He is housebroken. He will bark and nudge you to let you know he needs something (go outside to pee, hungry, play, etc.) He loves to be outside and loves to play with his 3 year old Sheltie roommate. He can also be a very lovable dog to just hang around with.

Zee is good on a leash, but does have serious aggression issues toward other dogs when he sees them...something that needs training attention. He is also somewhat protective of his territory. We do NOT recommend him for young kids and he must meet any other animals in the household first.

We believe he is best suited for a home that will give him a chance to run and play and that will be able to take the time to properly train him to socialize with other dogs.

I used the Friends of Animals spay voucher at Tara Animal Hospital for my 55 lb. dog. I think we ended up paying a little over $100 with the certificate, so $100 total for a small dog like yours is pretty decent.
Also, Tara Animal Hospital is a great place to take your dog. They have always been so great with my dog, very helpful and understanding. I had a lot of apprehension when my dog was spayed because I was afraid the anesthesia would harm her (when I was a child my beloved dog died because of an adverse reaction to the anesthesia when we took her to be spayed). They were very patient with my concerns and did their very best to reassure me. I highly recommend Tara.

Please don't go on the assumption that just because you have a small dog, the price for a spay should be less. Spaying a dog is major surgery and the truth of the matter is surgery on smaller dogs is sometimes more difficult than on larger ones. But $100.00 for a spay is very reasonable and I don't think you are going to find a better rate. You can visit the Friends of Animals website where you can buy a spay/neuter certificate, but not all vets accept the certificate. You can find out which vets in your area do accept the certificate on the website. But keep in mind the certificate is only for the actual spay itself. It does not include other costs such as anesthesia, blood work, etc. So in your case, purchasing the certificate, along with those additional costs, may end up with you paying more than the $100.00, which, as I said, is a very reasonable fee for a spay.

Please be aware that there is absolutely no scientific evidence to support the idea that feeding your dog either garlic or brewer's yeast repels fleas, ticks, or other such pests. Garlic has never been proven to repel or kill fleas on a dog or cat. Also like onions it is highly toxic to your pet. It destroys the red blood cells which make your dog suspectible to other diseases and it causes vomitting, diahrea and bloody stools.

Like onions, garlic contains a toxin called thiosulphate. In large enough quantities, it causes gastroenteritis (vomiting & diarrhoea) and haemolytic anaemia. This basically means that the animal's red blood cells burst whilst in circulation, and because the body's ability to transport oxygen is reduced the animal becomes tired and lethargic. They can also end up with bloody urine due to the haemoglobin from the burst cells.

So not only is it is a myth that feeding garlic to your dog repels fleas, doing so can also endanger the health of your pet. But you don't have to take my word for it, just call any vet worth his/her salt and they will tell you the same thing.

We are looking for someone to care for our children ages 4, 5 and 11 in our Cicero home. I am a flight nurse and my husband is a firefighter so the schedule would be random and available about a month in advance. It would include all or any of the following on anywhere from 1-5 of the days/week:

� 7am-mid morning (I usually get home from work around 9 or 10 am OR until our son gets on the bus (12:30ish)�this varies on my shift.

� After school around 3pm when the kids get off the bus until 6pm when my husband gets home.

We would be willing to pay a set rate of $150-200/week regardless of # of days worked (could be 1-5) but that is negotiable.

We would ask that you commit to the public school year and may be able to accommodate certain days if you are unavailable. If this sounds good to you I would love to hear back so we can sit down and chat!

Before being a stay at home mom with my 2 young girls, I worked as a nanny for seven years caring for 2 school age children. We live in a safe home and neighborhood, with no pets or smoking.

Rates: $20 per day for before and after school care. I will also be available on snow days for $25 per day. I will provide snacks and drinks (lunch on snow days). We can negotiate availability on holidays (at $25/ day) and rate for before or after school only.

I agree with the person posting against the flea medicines. My dog grooms himself, my dogs play with each other and play bite all the time. Why do I want my dogs ingesting a dangerous pesticide? It is also absorbed through their skin...no thanks.

I have not used any conventional flea prevention since I adopted my dogs (one 4 years ago, the other 2.5 years ago). When they get bathed (usually only once or twice a year, but more if they are especially dirty like in the summer--they like to roll in the dirt) I add neem and lavendar oils to their oatmeal shampoo. My big guy smells like a "girl" but he's not buggy. I also have a lemon spray I use as a bug spray, and a spice mixture (can I remember it now? no, of course not--email me if you'd like more info) I sprinkle on them once or twice a month or a few hours after they are dry from a bath that repels bugs. I also have a flea comb I try to use once a week at least, which is fairly easy with two short-haired dogs.

A little effort and prevention goes a long way, and saves not only your dog, but the environment, from harsh chemicals and deadly pesticides.
