The time has come for me to sell my trusty cyclocross race rig, I have a new bike coming home soon and am running out of space in the basement.
The frame is a 2012 Kona Major Jake full carbon cyclocross bike. This has always been my race only bike with very minimal training miles in it, I have another aluminum bike that sees all that beating.
The bike is built using a full Shimano Ultegra 11speed groupset, and their cx specific Ultegra level crank set. The brakes are TRP Euro Cross canti brakes, I know, I know, why would you want canti brakes when you can have discs? These brakes will stop you no problem, side by side comparison with my alu bike with discs and you honestly wont notice a difference.
The wheel set is one that I hand laced, DT Swiss 350 hubs to Velocity Major Tom tubular rims, all topped off with a pair of Schwalbe Racing Ralph tires glued onto them. These wheels have seen a few races and are not in perfect shape, but its nothing that will cause you problems and I do have a set of non-matching clincher wheels and tires that I could throw in for the right price.
The rest of the bike is finished off with a mix of cockpit components including a Thomson seatpost, wtb saddle, and fizik bar tape.
This would make an awesome bike for someone looking to get into cross or up their game from an aluminum bike, with pedals it weighs in at around 18lbs which is damn good for a 59cm cross bike.
