Model # 842.242561 Craftsman 46” Two-Stage Snowblower Attachment for Riding Mower/Tractor. It was mounted to a 1995 Craftsman 20hp Riding Mower since I've had it. I now have garden duties for the tractor, so it's time to let this Snowblower go.
My Father purchased this Snowblower attachment brand new for our family's Craftsman Riding Mower in the mid 1990's. It has barely been used since new, as you can see by the condition of it. I acquired in 2009 from my parents. It has hardly been used by myself since moving to our new house, as my driveway is not long enough to use this unfortunately. My previous house had an 80 foot driveway, and this thing absolutely shined on that driveway.
The previous Snowblower that I had was a Tractor mounted Single Stage unit. It had an 86 inch belt that spanned from the engine to the front pulley on the snowblower, it would eat through the belt every 15-20 uses. This unit is a much better designed 2 stage Snowblower and has a very short belt, one that is much less likely to break. This heavy duty machine has an added gearbox underneath the body of it, with a solid metal driveshaft. This thing is literally built like a tank, and it runs like one too. I've only replaced the belt on it one time. The Snowblower has minimal rust, and is exceptionally clean for the year. Includes the mounting hardware.
-Made in USA, produced by Haban for Craftsman. Much nicer than the MTD manufactured garbage blower that has been around since this Haban unit ceased production.
-Very heavy, unsure of the actual weight of it. However can install with one person.
-46” Wide, 23 1/2” Tall Snowblower, with a huge 16” impeller that has the power to throw snow far
-The chute rotation was converted from a manual crank to an electrically operated unit. Built with thick steel plates, an easily sourced gm power window motor, and a u-joint welded to the cable rotation assembly. It rotates very smoothly and rapidly
-Major disassembly and cleaning/lubrication/fluid change performed in 2022
-Oil was changed in both of the Gearboxes in 2022.
-The main auger gearbox doesn't leak a drop of oil, which they regularly do on these units
-The Idler pulley was replaced in 2019
-New hardware was installed on skid shoes, and the main auger bearings as a preventative measure in 2022
-Lots of grease joints (6), regularly greased with farm and tractor grade grease
-Very minimal play on all the bearings
-Installed a Brand New Chain in 2022, the old one was stretched
-New Shear Bolts in both the Main Auger, as well as in the Driveshaft underneath, 4 in total. Another preventative measure in 2022
-Chute was removed, the base was cleaned, then it was lubricated with Fluid Film. It's very smooth since this was performed
-Actual greaseable Bearings on Auger's exterior walls, not Bushings
-I have the Owners Manual for this unit
I feel that I have gotten a good amount of pictures, showing the unit well. If you would like anymore pictures, please feel free to let me know. Price is firm, considering the condition of this unit. You need a truck or a trailer to load this thing into. I can help you load this in one of those if you need me to.
