The Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining the operation of all plant systems and equipment, including balers, conveyors, gearboxes, motors, and related components. This role ensures that all systems are operating safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company and OSHA standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform repairs and maintenance in accordance with Waste Management Safety and OSHA requirements.
Conduct preventive maintenance inspections (PMs) and perform repairs or rebuilds on a wide range of equipment including:
Balers, conveyors, hydraulic systems, and compressors
Electrical motors, pumps, fans, and gearboxes
Optical sorters, diverters, compactors, and wire tie systems
Complete Daily Equipment Inspections (DEI) and maintain maintenance logs.
Diagnose mechanical and minor electrical issues and implement effective solutions.
Establish and adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
Inspect the quality of third-party repairs or rebuilds.
Recommend improvements to enhance production efficiency and equipment reliability.
Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns or service calls.
Support the Plant Maintenance Manager with other assigned duties.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Basic understanding of mechanical diagnosing and electrical troubleshooting preferred.
Previous industrial or plant maintenance experience is a plus but not required (entry-level candidates will be trained).
Skills & Abilities:
Ability to read and understand maintenance manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Must follow safety procedures at all times and work well both independently and as part of a team
