Reynolds RMC Model 41 Contempora Bb Pro Trumpet, 1961
Large Bore - Built by RMC
Please read the entire description below!
Greetings! I offer this B-flat trumpet marked "Contempora" and RMC shield logo on the bell throat, and "RMC - REYNOLDS DIV. • CLEVELAND OHIO U.S.A." on the bellrim garland. Serial number 61050 indicates production in 1961. "LB" on valve block indicates Large Bore. Construction is yellow brass with red brass/bronze bell, nickel trim including bell garland, with lacquer finish.
CONDITION: Good cosmetically overall. The lacquer is about 95%, with spotty losses here and there. The 3rd-slide throw ring is missing but I'm sure I have a suitable replacement in my spares, which I'll include. There are some spots of corrosion on leadpipe. This shouldn't be much of a problem as long as you keep it clean inside. The pistons are quite tight with good action and minimal blow-by. The 3rd-slide throw is a bit stiff and will need cleaning and possibly lapping. There are small dings scattered here and there, and the bell has a slight curve which I assume was from getting knocked over at some point. A good repair tech can fix this, but it doesn't seem to affect the playing at all so I'd leave it alone myself. The case has a divider that has come loose; I'd throw the divider out as the case itself is still quite functional. The tray for the horn is also loose but some hot glue would easily fix that. The instrument is sold AS-IS with no warranties. See pictures. WYSIWYG.
PLAYING QUALITIES: It plays very well with a compact but warm sound, excellent intonation, and quick response. I'd have no issue with taking it on one of my gigs. NOTE that I make no representations made about its suitability for your intended use.
ACCESSORIES: Original Samsonite case, Bach "Corp" 10-1/2C mouthpiece. See pictures; WYSIWYG.
THE STRAIGHT DOPE: While it's not in collector condition, this Reynolds Contempora is a classic pro trumpet which would be a decent horn for an advancing student, recreational player, or pro looking for something a bit different. It is sold AS-IS. All sales FINAL unless I determine that I significantly misrepresented it. I'll be happy to answer any questions about the instrument itself. Thanks for looking!
SHIPPING: Local pickup preferred, cash, in person. Insured shipping WITHIN THE CONTINENTAL US ONLY via UPS will be $50, payment by PayPal Goods & Services. Located in Syracuse NY.
ATTENTION SCAMMERS: I DO NOT reply to "Is this still available?" If the post is up, it's available. I've seen it all. NO bank drafts; NO "agents"; NO meeting you at some parking lot; NO text messages; NO blind gee mail addresses. I may have been born at night, but not LAST NIGHT.
All you nice honest folks out there in Craigslistland, please contact me if you have an interest in this instrument. I'll be glad to email/text more pics and details. Thanks for looking!
