Reynolds RMC Model TU-52 Medalist Bb Pro Trumpet, 1963
ML Bore - Built by RMC
Please read the entire description, and the AUCTION TERMS below, BEFORE bidding!
Greetings! I offer this B-flat trumpet marked "Reynolds / Emperor / Cleveland, Ohio" and RMC shield logo on the bell throat. Serial number 73080 indicates production in 1963. Bore size is .458", described in the catalog "medium bore" but actually modern medium-large. Construction is yellow brass with nickel trim, with lacquer finish. This model was marketed as a step-up model for "promising students and those of advanced talent."
CONDITION: Very good cosmetically overall. The lacquer is about 97%, with minor losses here and there. There are some spots of red-rot on leadpipe. This shouldn't be much of a problem as long as you keep it clean inside. The pistons are quite tight with good action and minimal blow-by. The 3rd-slide throw is a bit stiff and will need some attention. There are small dings scattered here and there, and the bell bow has a couple of dents. A good repair tech can fix this, but it doesn't seem to affect the playing at all so I've left it alone. The case is very solid and in nice shape except for having the handle wrapped with duct tape, and the unreliable catches replaced with drawbar latches. I have cleaned and lubricated the instrument and it is basically ready to play right out of the box. The instrument is sold AS-IS with no warranties. See pictures. WYSIWYG.
PLAYING QUALITIES: It plays very well with a compact but warm sound, excellent intonation, and quick response. I'd have no issue with taking it on one of my gigs. NOTE that I make no representations made about its suitability for your intended use.
ACCESSORIES: Original case, original Reynolds 7-A mouthpiece, silver-plated music lyre. See pictures; WYSIWYG.
THE STRAIGHT DOPE: While it's not quite in collector condition, this Reynolds Emperor would be a good horn for an advancing student or recreational player. It is sold AS-IS. All sales FINAL unless I determine that I significantly misrepresented it. I'll be happy to answer any questions about the instrument itself.
SHIPPING: Local pickup preferred, cash, in person. Insured shipping WITHIN THE CONTINENTAL US ONLY via USPS will be $50, payment by PayPal Goods & Services ONLY. Located in Syracuse NY.
ATTENTION SCAMMERS: I DO NOT reply to "Is this still available?" If the post is up, it's available. I've seen it all. NO bank drafts; NO "agents"; NO meeting you at some parking lot; NO text messages; NO blind gee mail addresses. I may have been born at night, but not LAST NIGHT.
All you nice honest folks out there in Craigslistland, please contact me if you have an interest in this instrument. I'll be glad to email/text more pics and details. Thanks for looking!
