Unity of Syracuse is looking for a part-time Music Coordinator to help lead and shape the musical experience for Sunday services and special seasonal gatherings.
We are seeking someone who is musically gifted, spiritually grounded, collaborative, and comfortable in a church community that does things a little differently.
Our worship style is contemplative, Christ-centered, spiritually expressive, and rooted in practical/metaphysical Christianity. Music may include traditional hymns, contemporary Christian songs, contemplative music, acoustic/spiritual selections, and carefully chosen secular songs that carry a meaningful, healing, or spiritually reflective message.
This role is not just about performing music. It is about helping create a sacred atmosphere where people can pray, reflect, worship, heal, and connect with God.
The Music Coordinator would provide music for approximately 2–3 Sunday services per month, with occasional opportunities for special services during seasons such as Advent, Christmas, Holy Week, Easter, and other ministry gatherings.
Each Sunday service typically includes 3–4 songs, and the Music Coordinator will work closely with our Ministry Coordinator/Spiritual Director to choose music that supports the theme, scripture, message, and tone of the service.
The ideal candidate should be:
Comfortable singing and/or playing music in a worship or spiritual setting
Open to a blend of traditional, contemporary, contemplative, and spiritually meaningful music
Collaborative, flexible, and willing to work closely with ministry leadership
Sensitive to the tone and theology of a contemplative Christian community
Able to help create a sacred, prayerful, and welcoming atmosphere
Available for 2–3 Sundays per month, with occasional special services as available
Unity of Syracuse also has a long-time soloist who will continue to offer music for 1–2 services per month and may be available for support or mentorship. This position will primarily work directly with the Ministry Coordinator/Spiritual Director.
If you are interested in helping shape a meaningful, contemplative, and spiritually grounded music ministry, we would love to hear from you.
